Uherčice (Znojmo District)

Uhercice ( German Ungarschitz ) is a municipality in Okres Znojmo in the Czech Republic.

Location

The place is located west of Znojmo in Moravia, about five kilometers north of Drossendorf on the Czech- Austrian border, 13 kilometers southeast of Jehnice and 14 kilometers west of Vranov.

History

The first written mention of the village Ungerschicz dates from 1312. Until 1493 the village belonged to the monastery Oslawan. Then it came to the Lords Kraiger by Kraig, who turned the place in the 16th century to their stately home and a castle built. 1593 Ungarschitz went to Messrs. Strein Schwarzenau. 1628 Jakob von Berchtold acquired possession and then took the title " of Ungarschitz and Fratting " to. 1768 came the reign of the noble family Collalto as they by Thomas Vinciguerra Count Collalto was purchased.
