Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Kiev
The archeparchy Kiev (Latin: Archieparchia Kioviensis ) is a location in Ukraine archeparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, based in Kiev.
History
The archeparchy Kiev was established on November 25, 1995 by Pope John Paul II made territorial concessions as Archbishop of Lviv archeparchy Exarchate of Kyiv - Vyshhorod. On 11 January 2002, the Archiepiscopal Exarchate of Kyiv - Vyshhorod gave parts of his territory to the founding of Archbishop Exarchate of Donetsk -Kharkiv. Another area assignment was on 28 July 2003 establishing the Archbishop Exarchate Odessa - Crimea. The Archbishop Exarchate of Kyiv - Vyshhorod was brought on 6 December 2004 archeparchy and renamed archeparchy Kiev.
The archeparchy Kiev is the Eigeneparchie of the Major Archbishop of Kyiv - Halych.
The archeparchy Kiev includes the oblasts Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Cherkasy, Chernihiv and Vinnytsia. The area is shown in purple on the map.
