Uničov

Uničov ( German Moravian- Neustadt ) is a town with 12,385 inhabitants ( 1 January 2004) in the Czech Republic. It is located 22 km northwest of Olomouc at the Oskava, in the one kilometers above the town the Oslava opens. The city is located in 248 m above sea level. Level and belongs to the Okres Olomouc.

History

Uničov originated in the early 13th century. It is the oldest winner of city rights community in Moravia. Moravian- Neustadt was granted the Magdeburg rights after 10 years of planned increase in 1223. As a royal town she was under the Bohemian king directly.

After Tartarensturm of 1241 the Bishop of Olomouc Bruno of castle populated as a confidant of the Czech King Wenceslas I. large parts of northern Moravia with construction and craftsmen of his north German homeland, as well as Moravian- Neustadt and its surroundings. At that time German villages were founded here. After the Czech reformer Jan Hus was burned as a heretic in 1415 and his outraged, mostly Czech supporters rebelled against King Wenceslas II and the Catholic Church, kindled a bloody civil war. From 1941, the festival was not celebrated.   • Benkov is located west of the city. Between Benkov and Uničov are two mountains, the Šibeník ( Gallows ) and the Benkovský Kopec ( mountain of Benkov ). Both are city water works.
  • Brníčko lies to the east of the city on the left bank of Oskava. In the district of the village is the work UNEX This work has produced cranes, excavators and other large machines in the past. By Brníčko leads on the road # 444 of Uničov after Šternberk. There is also a railway station.
  • Dětřichov is located south of town on the right bank of the mouth of the Oskava and derhalb Lukavice. Nearby is a private airport for small aircraft.

  • Horni Sukolom is located north of Dolni Sukolom on the left bank of the Oslava.

  • Renoty is located south of the city and west of Dětřichov.
