University of Montevallo

The University of Montevallo is a state university in Montevallo in Alabama. Currently, 3,000 students are enrolled in the Liberal Arts College.


The University of Montevallo was founded in 1867 as the Alabama Girls' Industrial School for Women. As of 1956 male students were admitted. After several name changes, it received its present name in 1969.

The sports teams of the University of Montevallo are the Falcons. The university is a member of the Gulf South Conference.
