Alabama State University
The Alabama State University is a public, originally Afro American University in Montgomery, Alabama. It enrolled 5,600 students. It belongs to the group of historic African-American colleges and universities.
History
The Alabama State University was founded in 1867 as the Lincoln Normal School of nine former slaves. After several name changes, it received its present name in 1969. The belonging to the University radio station WVAS -FM broadcasts in 1984.
Sports
The sports teams of the Alabama State University are the Hornets. The university is a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
