The University of Sassari (Italian: Università degli Studi di Sassari, Latin: Universitas Turritana Sacerensis ) UNISS short - is a state university in the city of Sassari in Sardinia with around 18,000 students. It was founded in 1562 for educational motives by the Sardinian businessman Alessio Fontana and financed and initially led by a Jesuit college.
