Geography

Unterweitersdorf is located on 333 m above sea level. A. in Upper Austria between Linz, the capital and the district Freistadt at the Little Gusen. History

Bronze Age barrows with grave goods from the period 13th to 11th century are the earliest archaeological evidence of human settlement in the municipality BC. Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, owned the area since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. In 1869, 629 people lived in the municipality. By 1951, the population stagnated, as it started to grow. Higher growth since 1971 is recorded, which may be associated with the establishment of the Mühlkreisautobahn highway. In 1991, the municipality had 1415 inhabitants at the 2001 census, already in 1704, representing an increase of 20.4 %. On 1 January 2008 the municipality recorded 1951 inhabitants, the highest level in history.

At the 2001 census, the proportion of residents who were 60 years and older, 14.6% was; 21.2% were under 15 years old. The proportion of the female population was 48.7 %.

Coat of arms
