Yuilop (proper spelling yuilop ) is a copyrighted Voice-over- IP service and a software application that offers a mobile number in the cloud and allows users to make calls around the world for free and to texts, regardless of whether the recipient Yuilop uses.

Yuilop numbers can be reached through normal calls ( PSTN) and SMS from any mobile or landline phone. Users can use their Yuilop number on all devices with Internet access (IP). Calls and chat with other Yuilop users are free. Unlike other VoIP providers, Yuilop does not charge for communication outside the local network. For calls and SMS to landlines and mobile phones a virtual credit is used, the user can collect for free by taking advantage of the app or various promotional offers. Users in the U.S. can make national calls and text messages without having to use credit. Other features of Yuilop include instant messaging, group chats and share photos and the opportunity to their own location. Competitors include Skype, Viber and Google Voice.

Overview

Yuilop was founded by the former CEO Jochen Data protection Doppelhammer in 2011 and is headquartered in Barcelona. The app is available in over 200 countries, including Germany and the United States.

The app is currently used by about five million users and is available for Android, iOS, BlackBerry and Windows Phone.

In July 2013 Yuilop received a funding of approximately nine million U.S. dollars by the investors Nauta Capital, Shortcut Ventures, Bright Capital and the Spanish Government.

Yuilops services are divided into two main categories:

  • Calls and text messages to other users Yuilop via VoIP and IM.
  • Call and SMS to mobile and landline phones, virtual numbers, such as Skype or Google Voice, via the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).

Functions

Yuilop offers free telephone calls and messages between Yuilop - users as well as to mobile or landline numbers outside the Yuilop network. Yuilop allows users both via instant messaging and SMS to communicate (analog VoIP and phone calls ). Furthermore Yuilop users can communicate with each other in the group chat, emoticons and smileys, as well as share photos and her own site.

Yuilop.me

Yuilop.me is a way to get a virtual phone number. The number can be used on various devices with Internet access and is not tied to a SIM card, or to a network operator. Yuilop.me is currently available for Yuilop users in the U.S., UK, Germany and Spain.

Yuilop points

Call and SMS to other Yuilop users are free and unlimited. Calls and SMS use in mobile phones and landline Yuilop points. These are obtained by the following actions:

  • Invite your friends to log in Yuilop.
  • Use of online services such as downloading of partner apps, filling out a survey, shop online or signing up for a product test.
  • Reputation of short promotional videos.
  • Redeem a voucher code, which was raffled on Yuilops Facebook or Twitter account.
  • Use of the app, such as receive or receive calls and SMS to the number Yuilop.me chat messages from other Yuilop users.

Version 1.9 for iOS also offers users the option to buy credit.

How many points are needed for calls to a mobile or landline phone, depends on the destination country. In some countries ( eg USA ) or between some countries, calls and text messages can be made without that credit is needed for it.

Security

Yuilop uses a 2048 bit encryption to encrypt the data exchange and the call signaling over any transport medium ( WiFi, 2G, 3G, 4G). A STARTTLS extension is used protocol running over Transport Layer Security.

In November 2012, announced the web portal golem.de that Yuilop contrary to what the developers use to transmit messages unencrypted. According to Yuilop only the iOS version was affected and the problem has been resolved.
