Usinsk

Ussinsk (Russian Усинск; komi Ускар, scientific transliteration Uskar ) is a city in the northwestern Russian republic of Komi with 40,827 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located in the foothills of the Polar Urals about 750 kilometers northeast of the Republic Capital Syktyvkar on the right bank of Uzza near its mouth into the Pechora.

Ussinsk the Republic is administratively subordinated directly. It has a beautiful 30.6 thousand km ² territory.

The city is connected by a 108 km long railway to the station Synja the Pechora Railway Konosha - Kotlas - Vorkuta since 1980.

History

Ussinsk was created in 1966 as a settlement at the beginning of the exploration of oil deposits in the north of the Republic of Komi and received city rights in 1984.

Culture and sights

In Ussinsk there is a Historical and Folk Museum and an art gallery. Even in the distant 18 km, belonging to the town, since 1825 known Kolva village there is a museum dedicated to local history.

Economy

Ussinsk is center of oil and gas production of the Komi Republic: three-quarters of the conveyed in the Republic of the oil coming from the lying to the members of the city territory oil fields Ussinskoje, Woseiskoje, Werchnewoseiskoje, Baganskoje and Saljukinskoje. There are also construction industry and food industry.
