The USS Edward McDonnell (FF -1043 ) was the third frigate of the Garcia class of United States Navy. It was named after Vice Admiral Edward Orrick McDonnell, carriers of the Medal of Honor, named.
History
The USS Edward McDonnell was, Louisiana placed on April 1st, 1963 at Avondale Shipyard in New Orleans to Kiel. After the launch on 15 February 1964, under a new destroyer escort with the identification DE -1043 with the U.S. Navy on 15 May 1965. On June 30, 1975, the ship was reclassified to the frigate. After more than 23 years of service, the Edward McDonnell was filed on September 30, 1988 decommissioned and stricken from the Navy ship Regio Star on December 15, 1992. On 7 December 2001, the former frigate for 2.3 million U.S. dollars was sold for scrapping to the Metro Machine Corp., Philadelphia and broken up in the former Philadelphia Navy Yard.
