1917: Moccasin

The 1903 finished Prince Joachim, named after Joachim of Prussia, was a 7th and last Prince ship for the South America services the Hamburg -American Packet ride Actien -Gesellschaft ( Hapag ), Hamburg, built by the Flensburg shipbuilding company. American service of Prince Joachim

In April 1917, the U.S. government confiscated the Prince Joachim and brought them under the name Moccasin as a transporter moving.

On February 26, 1918, the U.S. Navy took this freighter with passenger facilities and cold stores as USS Moccasin (ID -1322 ) into service. From March 14 to April 13 she was in a convoy with a cargo of frozen meat their first trip to Europe from New York City to Bordeaux, France. On 2 June 1919, the ship was decommissioned.

In 1920 she was renamed in Porto Rico. On 2 March 1920, she fell in New York. Again lifted and repaired, she came in 1923 in the service of the New York & Porto Rico Steamship Co.. In December 1933, the former Prince Joachim was sold for demolition.
