Uwe Kropinski

Uwe Kropinski ( born February 20, 1952 in East Berlin ) is a German composer, percussionist, improvisation and jazz guitarist. He is one of the most prolific jazz guitarists in Germany.

Life

Kropinski began in 1966 as a rock musician and played with singer Tamara Danz (his girlfriend at the time ) in the band The Cropies. From 1970 to 1974 he studied classical guitar with Dieter Rumstig and jazz guitar at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik " Hanns Eisler" Berlin.

In 1977 he began his concert career as a free-jazz and improvisational musicians until 1986, he was then a member of various jazz formations. He played together with Conny Bauer ( 1976) and other leading jazz musicians of East Germany. A first solo concert he played in the jazz workshop Peitz. He led a quartet with the occupation Volker Schlott (saxophone ), Günter Bartel (bass) and Peter Gröning (drums). This was followed by duets with John Tchicai (saxophone ), Joëlle Léandre (bass) and Rudolf Dašek ( guitar). Other partners included Günter " Baby" Sommer and nobility Roidinger. He participated in various dance projects with Iris Sputh, Arila Siegert and Thomas Hartmann with, among others, the Bauhaus Dessau. Tours all over Europe were on the board.

In 1986 he moved to Nuremberg, 1987 to Cologne. In 1993 he went with Michael Heupel on Africa tour ( supported by Goethe - Institute ). He made in 1989 by Theo Scharpach a special guitar with 39 frets build on the new game he and percussion techniques developed, it plays the only musician. In 1995, he appeared with Jamaaladeen Tacuma. Cooperation with Joachim Kühn, Rolf Kühn and Dieter Köhnlein followed. In 1998 he moved back to Berlin.

In addition to his concert activities are Kropinski improvisation workshops and wrote numerous compositions. Together with David Friesen he publishes the works composed Guitar guitar and departure. In addition, he is a photographer and CD cover designer.
