Václav Nedomanský

Václav Nedomansky ( born March 14, 1944 in Hodonín ) is a former Czechoslovak ice hockey player ( striker ) and coach, who from 1974 to 1983 for the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League as well as for Toronto Toros and Birmingham Bulls played in the World Hockey Association.

Career

At 18, he began his professional career in 1962 when HC Slovan Bratislava. During his twelve years with this team, he participated with the Czechoslovak national team on nine Hockey World Championships, where here was the title at the world championship in 1972 his greatest success. He was also both the 1968 Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble, as well as at the Olympic Winter Games in 1972 in Sapporo in the squad of the national team. He was top scorer four times in the Czechoslovak league and was with 559 gates at the time the top scorer of all time in Czechoslovakia. A hallmark of this distinctive player were his one-handed Stockdribblings.

About Switzerland succeeded him in 1974 along with Richard Farda to settle out of his home country, switching station was in 1969 fled Jarda Krupicka. After just one game, he moved to the St. Louis Blues, but in the course of the season he returned to the Rangers back and ended there at the age of 39 years of his career.

In the season 1987/88 he took over the coaching job at Schwenningen ERC. Here he remained for two years before he moved to Innsbruck EV to Austria. After the opening of the Iron Curtain, he worked as a scout in Europe for the Los Angeles Kings.
