Val-d'Oise

The department of Val- d'Oise [ valdwa ː z] is a French department of atomic number 95, it is located in the Île- de -France region in the Paris region and is named after the river Oise (Oise valley).

Geography

The department of Val- d'Oise extends to the northwest and north of the metropolitan area of Paris. It is bordered on the north by the department of Oise, on the east by the department of Seine -et- Marne, on the south by the departments of Seine -Saint -Denis, Hauts -de -Seine, Yvelines and on the west by the department of Eure.

West of Pontoise is located in a rural area, however, is the area between the eponymous valley of the Oise and the lying on the eastern edge of the départements international airport Roissy -Charles -de- Gaulle part of the densely populated agglomeration Paris.

History

The department was created in 1968 in the division of the department of Seine- et- Oise into smaller departments. The order number 95 therefore differs from the alphabetical order.

In 2000 the district was renamed Montmorency Arrondissement Sarcelles and completed the change of location in 2004 with the relocation of sub-prefecture by the relocation of the main town.
