Valeri Zhukov

Valery Pavlovich Zhukov (Russian Валерий Павлович Жуков; born February 8, 1988 in Gorky, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who is under contract with HK Kuban Krasnodar from the Wysschaja Hockey League since August 2012.

Career

Valery Zhukov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, for the second team, he was active in the third-class Perwaja League in the season 2003/ 04. In the following season, he ran on for third division HK Sarov, before he returned to his hometown club. For torpedoes first team he was in the 2005/06 season his debut in the Wysschaja League, the second Russian league. In the following season he went with his team as second division champions in the Super League.

After Zhukov a season spent with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the Super League, the team was taken to the 2008/09 season in the newly formed Continental Hockey League. In his rookie year in the KHL in 19 games, he scored a goal. In the following season he rose to five assists in 23 games, taking in eleven games for torpedoes junior team Chaika Nizhny Novgorod aground in parallel in the inaugural multinational junior league Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja league.

During the 2010/11 season the former youth international fell almost the entire season and played only a KHL game for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, as well as five games for his former club HK Sarov in the new second division, the Wysschaja Hockey League.

Internationally

For Russia Zhukov took part in the Under-18 Junior World Cup in 2006, where he finished fifth with his team. During the tournament, he remained no points in six games and won two penalty minutes. In addition, he was in his country's squad at the Super Series 2007.
