Valeriy Dmitriyev

Valeri Dmitriev (born 10 October 1984) is a former Kazakh cyclist.

Career

By 2009

His best result as a junior rider scored Dmitriev in 1997, when he was second in the individual time trial at the European Youth Olympic Games.

His professional career began in 2004 when Dmitriev Kazakh cycling team CAPEC. In his first season he was third at the Asian Championships in the road race and he won a stage of the U23 Tour of Giro delle Regioni. He also reached there a second stage space and in the same year also second on a portion of the Ras Tailteann in Ireland. All of these placements was able to pull through his sprint strength of the Kazakh.

The next year he was sent to a second and a third stage rank first overall in the Tour of Greece, where he started as a member of a Kazakh national team. The victory in Greece is the greatest success in Dmitriev's career.

In 2006 he won - again for CAPEC at the start - a stage of the Tour d' Egypte, finishing in third place in the overall standings. Previously, he had been twice second stage in Egypt and was placed third in the prologue there and at La Tropicale Amissa Bongo his time trial skills. Furthermore, he sprinted to the second section of the Tour of Chongming Iceland in China in second place.

After the dissolution of the team end of 2006, Dmitriev was able to place at the 2007 Tour of Galicia on the podium twice.

2008 Dmitriev was awarded a contract with the Kazakh Continental Team Ulan. With podium finishes at the Giro del Friuli, the Circuito Montañes and subsistence sections of the Vuelta a Navarra he missed a victory just barely. In the overall standings of the Vuelta a Navarra he finished third.

2009-2010

Due to its promising results in the mass sprints Dmitriev was committed by the Kazakh ProTeam Astana 2009. Among other things, he came there in 2010 at the Tour Down Under, a race of the highest international class, for use and was tenth of the first stage. Surprisingly, he also fought for victory in the mountains classification and finished there in second place.

End of the 2010 season ended Dmitriev his active career as a professional cyclist at the age of only 26 years, after Astana had offered him a new contract.
