Vălișoara

Vălişoara [ vɘliʃoara ] (Hungarian Kőfalu or Valisora ​​) is a municipality in the district of Hunedoara in Transylvania, Romania.

Geographical location

The community Vălişoara is by the river Fornădia - a right tributary of the Caian - in western Transylvania in the Transylvanian Erzgebirge. At the European Route 79 and the now disused railway Deva Brad located, the location of the town Brad is about 15 kilometers south ( Tannenhof ); the district capital Deva ( Deva ) located 22 kilometers south of Vălişoara away.

History

The town was founded in 1499 or 1506 Vălişoara first mentioned ( according to different data).

A settlement of the region, however, goes back to the early Bronze Age. On the grounds of the eingemeindeten village Dealu Mare - called by the locals Rusti - 1998 are archaeological finds, the point in the Early Bronze Age, has been made.

The main occupation of the population are forestry, livestock farming and mining, which has fallen sharply in recent years.

Population

In the 1850 census, lived on the territory of the present municipality of 1,781 people. 1,777 of these were Romanians and four German. The highest population ( 2,630 ) - at the same time the Romanians ( 2623 ) - in 1920, that of Hungary ( 29) in 1900 and reached the Germans ( 20) 1880. In the survey of 1930, three Roma were registered. 2002 there were in the church Vălişoara 1380 Romanians and eight Hungary.

Attractions

  • The monument built (next to the town hall of the municipality ) in honor of the heroes of the revolution of 1848, in 1934, is a listed building.
  • The wooden church of Sfântul Nicolae eingemeindeten village Săliştioara ( Blessed village), built in 1830, is not a listed building.
