Valve Pormeister

Valve Pormeister ( born April 13, 1922 in Tallinn, † October 27, 2002 ibid ) was an Estonian architect.

Life

Valve Pormeister was born under the birth name Valve Ulm. She completed her studies in 1952 at the State Art Institute of the Estonian SSR from specialist garden and park design from. She then until 1964, when state-owned enterprises Eesti Põllumajandusprojekt ( " Estonian Agricultural Project") and to 1992 Eesti Maaehitusprojekt ( " Estonian country construction project " ) has, since 1979 as a project architect major.

Her breakthrough achieved with the construction of the " flowers Pavilion" (Estonian Lillepaviljon ) and a little later finished associated Cafes in Tallinn with a direct connection to the surrounding landscape, " a prime example of organic architecture " with examples of architecture in Finland and Denmark from the 1950s.

Valve Pormeister quickly became one of the leading architects during the Soviet occupation of Estonia. Their creed was the use of natural materials and a stronger architectural interest in nature. She has planned numerous gardens and rural settlements. Particularly well known are her designs for the design of communities Saku, Kurtna, Vinni and Viiratsi and the associated farm buildings. She was also charged with greening projects in numerous buildings. Since 1955 she has also organizes popular flower shows in Tallinn and Moscow.

Pormeister received important Estonian awards, including 1965 and 1967 of the State Prize of the Estonian SSR, and in 2000 for her work the Culture Prize of the Republic of Estonia. 1967 her the title " Honored Architect of the Estonian SSR " was awarded.

Private

Valve Pormeister was with the Estonian architect Henno Sepmann (1925-1985) married. Her grave is located on the Tallinn Forest Cemetery.
