Vassal Gadoengin

Vassal Gadoengin (* 1943 in Denigomodu; † 15 December 2004 Yaren ) was a politician and nauruischer 2002 to 2003 and from the last elections in October 2004, Speaker of the Nauruan Parliament. He was also a member of the Nauru National Olympic Committee.

Prior to his political career, he worked as a teacher. Gadoengin was first elected to Parliament in 1997 and confirmed in 2000 in office. It was during the terms of office of Bernard Dowiyogo Minister of Justice. He officiated in 2002 and 2003 as a speaker; when he resigned as such in late January 2003, Gadoengin was consequently voted by the Nauruan electorate in the last election in 2004, however, he managed again to enter parliament and was re-elected as Speaker of Parliament.

He died in December 2004 of a heart attack, a result of his diabetes disease. President Ludwig Scotty praised him next day before the Parliament for its merits as a parliamentarian and government minister. On December 20, their last respects has been proven at a state funeral.
