Venice–Trieste railway

The railway Venice -Trieste is an Italian main train connecting the major Italian cities of Venice and Trieste together.

The route is operated by RFI, is electrified double track and with 3 kV DC.

History

The section between Mestre ( near Venice ) and San Giorgio di Nogaro was opened in three stages 1885-1888. 1894 was followed by the commissioning of the time lying on Austrian territory portion between Monfalcone and Cervignano. 1897, the route was completed with the cross-border section.
