Vernon Macklin

Vernon L. Macklin ( born September 25, 1986 in Portsmouth, Virginia ) is an American basketball player. He played for the Detroit Pistons in the NBA.

Career

Youth and College

Macklin first attended the Norcom High School in his hometown of Portsmouth and, after three years at Hargrave Military Academy in nearby Chatham. At both schools he played for the basketball team and was appointed in the last year of high school at the Hargrave Military Academy in the McDonald 's All American team. In addition, he took for youth national teams of the United States in 2006 at the Nike Hoop Summit in Memphis, and in 2004 at the Youth Development Festival, where he won the bronze medal. Then he enrolled at Georgetown University in Washington, DC one. There he played for two years, together with the later NBA players Jeff Green and Roy Hibbert together for the Bulldogs basketball team of the University. In his first year with the team he reached the Final Four and failed there to the Ohio State Buckeyes. After another year, which was less successful, he left Washington and visited now on the University of Florida. In Gainesville, he played two seasons - the first was blocked due to the change - under coach Billy Donovan for the Gators and reached in his last year, the Elite Eight, where they failed because of the Butler Bulldogs. After that, he left the university with a bachelor's degree in sociology.

NBA

Detroit Pistons (2011 - )

Macklin was selected in the NBA Draft 2011, 52 out of the Detroit Pistons, and signed due to the lockout only in December 2011 his contract. Then, after only 19 games for Detroit to the farm team, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants are submitted. But from there he returned after only ten games in April back and completed in the sequence four more games for the Pistons.
