Versonnex (Haute-Savoie)

Versonnex is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Versonnex is located on 477 m above sea level. M., about 15 km west of the town of Annecy (air line). The farming village extends a scenic location on a gently sloping headland on the south between the valley of Fier in the southwest and that of Morge in the east, east of the Montagne du Gros Foug, in Albanais.

The area of ​​4.18 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the western Genevois. History

Versonnex is first mentioned in the 15th century. The place was as a fief to the barons of Sion and Crête.

Attractions

The village of Saint-Pierre church was erected in 1852 on the site of an earlier church. From the castle Crête from the 16th century ruins are still preserved. The former Château de Serraval 1954 was being converted to a farm. As other attractions, the Château de Couey and a mill on the Morge apply.

Population

With 567 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Versonnex one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the population steadily increased due to high levels of emigration from (1861 Versonnex were still counted 442 inhabitants).
