Very is the fifth studio album by the Pet Shop Boys. It appeared in the September 27, 1993 with Parlophone. It reached in Germany and in the UK No. 1 on the charts. In 2005 it was 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You added to the list of the reference work The.

Creation and reception

All pieces were written by Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, only the hit single "Go West " is based on the eponymous song of the Village People. The album was recorded in London mixed (only the chorus to " Go West" in New York ) and Stephen Hague and Mike Drake, it was mastered by Bob Ludwig in Portland, produced by the Pet Shop Boys and Stephen Hague. The orange jewel case with knobs relief was designed by London-based design studio Pentagram.

In 1994, a limited edition with bonus CD under the title Very Relentless was released. The bonus CD contains six more songs that were recorded at the same time as Very. The released in 2001, remastered version contains the bonus CD Further Listening 1992-1994 with remixes and unreleased songs.

Neil Tennant described as Very "very Pet Shop Boys". Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic awarded 4.5 out of 5 stars and noted: ". Alternately happy and melancholy, Very is the Pet Shop Boys at Their Finest "
