Veselé

Veselé (Hungarian Vigvár - to 1900 Veszele ) is a municipality in Piešťany Okres of Trnavský kraj in Slovakia.

Geography

The municipality is located in the northern Danube hill country that is part of the Slovak Danube lowland, between de brooks Šteruský creek and Lančársky creek, which flow into the river east of Veselé Dudváh. Veselé is located nine kilometers from Vrbove, 12 km from Piešťany and 22 miles from Trnava.

History

In today's municipality several finds from the Neolithic and Bronze Age are proven. The town itself was first mentioned in 1310 and 1390 as Wygwar writing.

In 1944, the place with the neighboring towns and Ťapkové Rakovice was merged in the new municipality Veselie, but this was in 1946 dissolved. 1956, the city was incorporated Ťapkové again and remains to this day a part of the municipality.
