Villa Vilaque

Villa Vilaque is a village in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Vilaque is the fourth largest town in the county ( bolivian: Municipio) Pucarani in the province of Los Andes on the right bank of a tributary to the Río Pallina flowing over the Río Catari in the southeastern portion of Lake Titicaca. The village lies at an altitude of 3952 m on the Bolivian Altiplano, 30 km southeast of Lake Titicaca.

Geography

Vilaque located on the Bolivian plateau between the Andes mountain ranges, the Cordillera Occidental and the Cordillera Central in the west to the east.

The mean average temperature of the region is located at 8 ° C, the annual precipitation is about 600 mm. The region has a pronounced diurnal climate, the monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 7 ° C in July and 11 ° C in December. the monthly rainfall range from less than 10 mm during the months of June and July and close to 100 mm from December to February.

Traffic network

Vilaque located 30 kilometers by road from La Paz, the capital of the department of the same name.

From La Paz the highway Ruta 2 on El Alto leads in a northwesterly direction to Villa Vilaque and from there via Batallas and Huarina to Copacabana on Lake Titicaca. To the west branches in Vilaque from an unpaved road that leads to the 25 km distant provincial capital Pucarani.

Population

The population of the town has risen in the past two decades by about 40 percent.

She was 465 inhabitants at the 1992 census, then 530 inhabitants at the 2001 census, and now 655 inhabitants ( 2009 estimate ).

Because of the historical population growth, the region has a high proportion of Aymara population in the municipality of Pucarani 96.7 % of the population speak the Aymara language.
