Villeneuve-Tolosane

Villeneuve- Tolosane ( Occitan Vilanava Tolosana ) is a commune with 8748 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haute- Garonne and the Région Midi -Pyrénées. The inhabitants are called Villeneuvois, Villeneuvoises.

General

Villeneuve- Tolosane is the irrigation canal Canal de Saint- Martory, southwest of Toulouse and is part of the Communauté urbaine du Grand Toulouse.

The proximity to Toulouse and the population rose from 976 (1962) on today's news.

Since the Neolithic (New Stone Age ), the area is inhabited; the remains of a village in an area of fifteen acres have been excavated. This village was surrounded by a palisade, rampart and ditch.

  • The Taekwondoin Floriane Liborio (* 1988), French champion in 2009 and European champion in 2010 in Saint Petersburg domiciled in Villeneuve- Tolosane.
  • Daniel Bravo ( born 1963 ), football player in the French national team, lived many years here.
  • The cyclist Frédéric Moncassin (* 1968), successful participants in the Tour de France and Paris -Roubaix, grew up in the village.
