Vinland-Sagas

As Vinland Sagas are two Icelandic sagas, which denotes Grænlendinga Saga ( The Saga of the Greenlanders ) and Eirik's saga RAUDA ( The Saga of Erik the Red ).

The Sagas provide the most complete information about the Scandinavian colonization of the Americas. The sometimes conflicting Sagas were written earlier than 200 years after the trips described in them. Despite the contradictions they are considered by historians as the basis of the knowledge structure of the Scandinavian colonization of North America.

In the 1960s, was excavated at L'Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland by the couple Anne- Stine and Helge Ingstad a Scandinavian settlement, making the trips described in the sagas were considered proven.
