The Vire is a river in the northern French region of Basse -Normandie and drains a catchment area of 1240 km ².

It rises in the municipality of CHAULIEU, in the department of Manche, flows through the départements of Calvados and Marne and through the towns of Vire and Saint- Lô, to open out into the English Channel north of Isigny -sur -Mer after 128 km.
