Virginie Faivre
Virginie Faivre ( born September 6, 1982 in Lausanne) is a Swiss freestyle skier of. She specializes in the halfpipe. Your greatest successes are the world champion title in 2009 and 2013 as well as three victories in the World Cup discipline standings. Occasionally she also takes part in slopestyle competitions.
Biography
Faivre comes from Saint- Légier in the canton of Vaud. At the beginning of their sports career, she was an alpine ski racer. She participated in FIS races and national championships, notable successes were made , however. In April 2000, she played her last Alpine race. In 2002 she traveled to Canada and arrived in Whistler with the freestyle scene into contact, after which they began to exercise this sport professionally.
The first halfpipe World Cup competition ever held in Saas -Fee on November 22, 2003 Faivre took 2nd place, followed by another 2nd place three and a half months later. In the World Cup season 2004/ 05 they binned to a further three times in second. Until next podium went almost four years until she could celebrate her first World Cup victory 11 January 2009 in Les Contamines. They secured with another 2nd place the halfpipe discipline standings and won at the 2009 World Championships in Inawashiro the gold medal. In the World Cup season 2010/11 she stood on the podium twice, in 2011/12 once.
With a win in Krasnaya Polyana, a second and a third place Faivre secured in the 2012/13 season again the halfpipe discipline standings. At the World Championships in 2013, she won for the second time the world title. Due to a back injury she could not train before the 2013/14 season, but still reached at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014 to fourth place.
