Vladimir Kolokoltsev

Vladimir Alexandrovich Kolokoltsev (Russian: Владимир Александрович Колокольцев; born May 11, 1961 in Nizhny Lomov, Penza Oblast ) is a Russian politician. He's since May 2012 Minister of the Interior in the government of the Russian Federation.

Kolokoltsev completed in the Soviet Union trained as police officers began in 1982 and his service with a special unit that was assigned to guard foreign embassies and missions in Moscow. He later completed a degree in law and returned to the promotion in the police service. After a career at the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department Kolokoltsev joined the Russian Interior Ministry. In 2007 he was appointed head of the Internal Affairs of Oryol Oblast. In September 2009, he was chief of police in Moscow. Kolokoltsev holds the rank of lieutenant general.

As head of the Moscow police Kolokoltsev was responsible for the police forces in the protests following the parliamentary elections of 2011. In May 2012, he was appointed by the newly elected President Vladimir Putin to the Minister of the Interior of the Russian Federation. He succeeds Rashid Nurgaliyev in this office. Kolokoltsev is married, he has a son and a daughter.
