Vladimir Sukharev

Vladimir Sukharev Georgijewitsch (Russian Владимир Георгиевич Сухарев; * July 10, 1924, † 30 April 1997) was a Soviet athlete. The 1,79 m tall and 76 kg sprinter was successful internationally, especially as relay runners.

The European Athletics Championships 1950 in Brussels Sukharev was used as first runner in the Soviet 4 x 100 - meter relay and won together with Levan Kaljajew, Levan Sanadse and Nikolai Karakulow the title ahead of the teams from France and Sweden.

In addition, Sukharev won two Olympic silver medals in the relay. 1952 in Helsinki together with Boris Tokarev, Kaljajew and Sanadse and in Melbourne in 1956 with Leonid Bartenew, Tokarev and Yuri Konovalov. In both cases, Sukharev ran to the final position.
