Boris Tokarev (athlete)

Boris Sergeyevich Tokarev (Russian Борис Сергеевич Токарев; born May 16, 1927 in Newinnomyssk; † 17 December 2002) was a Soviet athlete. The 1.78 m wide and 72 kg sprinter was an international success, especially as a relay runner.

At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952, he was employed in the 4 x 100 - meter relay as a starter for the Soviet team and won together with Levan Kaljajew, Levan Sanadse and Vladimir Sukharev the silver medal behind the U.S. and ahead of the Hungarian team. Two years later he won at the European Athletics Championships in Bern together with Viktor Ryabov, Sanadse and Leonid Bartenew the bronze medal in the relay. It won the Hungarian relay race in the lineup of Helsinki before the British.
