Voděrady (Blansko District)

Voděrady ( German Wodierad ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers west of Boskovice and belongs to Okres Blansko.

Geography

Voděrady located at the eastern foot of the highlands in the Nedvědička Bosko brázda. The village lies in the source basin of the creek Výpustek. To the west rises the Hůry (470 m) and in the northwest of Chlum (511 m). To the east of the town there are mounds of unfinished Reichsautobahn Vienna -Breslau, which are crossed by the national road I/43/E461.

Neighboring towns are Újezd ​​and Sebranice in the north, Vaculka in the northeast, Skalice nad Svitavou in the east, and Jabloňany Krhov to the southeast, and Pohodlí Lysice in the south, Drnovice the southwest, Zbraslavec in the west and Víska, Sychotín Kunstat and Podchlumí in the northwest.

History

Archaeological finds evidence of a settlement of the municipality since the Neolithic period. The first written mention of the village was in 1281, when the Vladike Zbylut de Woderat appeared as a witness in a certificate issued in Brno Lehnsurkunde of Jeneč of Schoenberg for his servants Horina two Huben land and forest at Tower. 1316 recorded Mikesch de Wodirad as a witness in the sale of Paezendorf by Bernard of Cimburg to Stanimir of Letovice.
