Vojtovce

Vojtovce ( Vogthau German, Hungarian Vojtvágása - to 1902 Vojtóc, russinisch - Ukrainian Вітӣівці / Witjiwzi ) is a small municipality in the district Stropkov in eastern Slovakia.

The community Vojtovce located in a tributary of the Ondava, separated by a ridge from the lying about two kilometers to the west city Stropkov. The surrounding wooded grounds of Ondauer mountain country ( Ondavská Highlands ) southeast of Vojtovce reached heights of over 500 meters above the sea.

The Farming village stretches along the Strait of Stropkov - Sitnik about Vojtovce and Breznicka after Velkrop.

In 1408, the town was first mentioned. The Greek Catholic church in the village was built in 1848.

The population of the municipality is approximately constant (1991: 121 inhabitants; 2001: 116 inhabitants; 2007: 120 inhabitants). The population is almost 64 % of Slovaks, 28 % are Ruthenians and Ukrainians 7%. 48 % of residents gave as a confession of Orthodox, 41% profess the Greek - Catholic Church.
