The community association is a Vorharz resulting from 1 January 2010 in the district of Harz in Saxony -Anhalt community association. It is based in paths of life with branches in Harsleben, Schwanebeck and Selke - Aue, Wedderstedt.
Geography
The municipality is located in the Harz mountains to the rivers Bode, Holtemme and Selke. It also has a share in Hakel.
In the municipality Vorharz the following seven member communities have joined together:
- Ditfurt
- Great Quenstedt
- Harsleben
- Hedersleben
- Schwanebeck, City
- Selke - Aue
- Wegeleben, City
History
The municipality took over at its inception, the administrative tasks of the same time -resolved Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Bode Holtemme and the administrative community Ballenstedt / Bode - Selke - Aue, as far as in the latter the communities Ditfurt, Hausneindorf, Hedersleben, Heteborn and Wedderstedt concerned, as well as some tasks that used in Member agglomerations.
Since unitary councils may have a maximum of eight member municipalities with 1,000 inhabitants, it was still the day of its formation, the following changes:
- Incorporation of the municipality Nienhagen in the city Schwanebeck
- Merger of the municipalities Hausneindorf and Wedderstedt the new municipality Selke - Aue
- Incorporation of the municipality Heteborn in the municipality Selke - Aue

Coat of arms
The coat of arms was approved on 26 October 2010 by the county.
Blazon: ". Azure, three silver shaft piles, between two golden ears of corn with two Halmblättern "
The main colors of the coat of arms are - derived from the main crest motif ( wave piles) and shield color - silver ( white) / blue.
The coat of arms was designed by the Magdeburg heraldist Jörg Mantzsch. It refers to the three rivers Bode, Holtemme and Selke and operated since ancient times in the villages agriculture. Bode, Holtemme and Selke were essential to the former settlement and development of cities and towns. Your water were used for food, for livestock watering, for crop production and was a base of the incipient industrialization through development of grinding, cutting and fulling mills. Agriculture, in turn, was in many parts of the main livelihood of the population.
Flag
The flag is blue - white - blue ( 1:4:1 ) striped ( cross- shape: strips horizontally extending, longitudinal shape: strip running vertically ) and centrally occupied with the arms of the municipality.
Traffic
The municipality is located on the main roads 81, 79 and 245 In Nienhagen, United Quenstedt, ways of life and Ditfurt there are railway stations on the railway Magdeburg- Thale. In addition, the way of life train station is next to the train Hedersleben - Wedderstedt on the railway Halle- Halberstadt.
