Vozokany, Topoľčany District

Vozokany (Hungarian Végvezekény - to 1907 Vezekény ) is a town in central Slovakia.

Location

The place is located in the northwestern parts of the " Nitra hill country " at the foot of Inowetz Mountains ( Považský Inovec ) in a tributary of the upper reaches of the creek Hlavinka and is touched by the state road from Topoľčany to Piešťany.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1318 as Wezeken. In 1353 he was a Jánovi, the son of Imrich, in the 16th century by the Raab chapter, until the 19th century, then, among other things of the Esterházy family. During the Turkish wars of the town was badly affected.

The population lived mainly from agriculture and viticulture. Since the Second World War, the residents commute to work increasingly in the surrounding towns.
