Vráž (Beroun District)

Vráž ( German WRAZ, 1939-45 Raasch ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located five kilometers north-east of Beroun and belongs to Okres Beroun.

Geography

Vráž is located on a plateau on the right side above the valley of Loděnice in Křivoklátská Highlands. North-east rise the Hřeben (431 m) and the Kolo (407 m), in the south the Herinky (440 m). By Vráž the railway line Beroun- Rudná near Prague runs, at the southern edge leads the motorway D 5 / E 50 between Prague and Beroun, over.

Neighboring towns are Na Lesích, Na Malé Vráži, Železná, Malé Přílepy and Nenačovice in the north, Chrustenice and Loděnice in the northeast, Jánská, Cernidla, Lužce and Kozolupy in the east, Bubovice and Sedlec in the southeast, Svatý Jan pod Skalou and Záhrabská in the south, Lištice, Na Herinkách, Závodí and Beroun in the southwest, Višňovka, Zdejcina and Hýskov in the west and V Libinách and Lhotka u Berouna in the northwest.

History

Archaeological finds evidence of a settlement of the municipality since the Paleolithic. The first church in Vráž was probably built in the 10th century.

The first written mention of WRAZ took place in 1320 in conjunction with a local judge ( iudex de WRAZ ). In 1357, the village became part of the newly built Castle County Karlstejn. The construction of Karl Steiner Castle Church of the Assumption was funded by the Prague Kollegiatskapitels using the charges from Vráž. The Church of St. Bartholomew was first mentioned in 1380 in the visitation records of the Archdiocese of Prague. In 1421 the village was destroyed by the Hussites.

1619 the castle Karlstejn county was abolished and at the same time also spent the Crown Jewels and the Royal Archives in Prague. In 1625 the rule of Charles Stein came into the possession of the chamber of the queen of Bohemia. The castle and manor Karlstejn 1631 were pledged to Jan Kavka Říčanský of Říčan. Vráž was burned down in 1639 by Swedish troops. In 1645 Jan Kavkas three daughters inherited the property. Most of the rule Karlstejn, which also belonged Vráž, fell while Ludmila Benigna von Sternberg. After the death of her husband Franz Matthias von Sternberg she sold her share of her son Johann Karl Steiner Norbert. In 1693 the royal chamber earned back the castle and lordship Karlstejn. While the castle passed back into the possession of the Bohemian kings, the rule was sold in 1705 to the Empress Eleonore. In her will, she explained the rule Karlstejn dowry rule of the Bohemian queen. 1755 appropriated Queen Maria Theresa rule Karlstejn 1755 the newly founded Institute nobility at Hradcany. In 1812, camped in Vráž first Napoleon, after Russian troops; the military brought the plague.

In 1846, which lies along the state road from village WRAZ 44 houses consisted of 321 residents. In the village there was the filial church of St. Bartholomew, and an inn. Away was the Rustic economy Lesých Na (Na Lesích ). Vicarage was Lodenitz .. Until the mid-19th century was the village of the kk Board rule Karlstejn submissive.

After the abolition of patrimonial Vráz / WRAZ formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Smíchov and judicial district of Beroun. 1868, the community was assigned to the district Hořovice. 1880 a village school was built in Vráz, the school building had to be increased in 1887. The village consisted of 72 houses in 1880 and had 602 Czech -speaking inhabitants. The following year, a brickyard began operations. The volunteer fire department was founded in 1892., With the completion of the railway line Beroun- Dušníky Vráž 1897 connected to the railway network. In 1932, the municipality had 1014 inhabitants Vráž. In the same year the village was electrified. Since 1936 Vráž belongs to Okres Beroun.

On 1 January 1986 was umgemeindet in the wake of the repeal of community Svatý Jan pod Skalou whose district Záhrabská after Vráž. Záhrabská broke up in November 1990 to get rid of Vráž. Since 2003, the municipality performs a coat of arms. Vráž consisted in 2005 of 365 houses and had 880 inhabitants. In the town there is a large holiday village.

For the community Vráž no districts are reported. Vráž consists of the basic settlement units Na Lesích, Ve Stupicích and Vráž .. To Vráž also includes the settlements Na Malé Vráži and Pod Hájem.

  • Marta Krásová (1901-1970), the mezzo-soprano spent her remaining years in Vráž, her grave is located at the local cemetery
