Vydrany

Vydrany ( until 1948 slovak " Hodoš "; Hodosch German, Hungarian Hodos or Nemeshodos ) is a municipality in south-western Slovakia with 1474 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Dunajská Streda, a part of the Trnavský kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located on the Great Rye Island, part of the Slovak Danube lowland. The municipal area is flat and long drawn from the center to about ten kilometers away Little Danube. The center is located at an altitude of 116 m nm and is four kilometers away from Dunajská Streda.

Neighboring municipalities are Dunajská Streda in the east (via the district Malé Blahovo ), Veľké Blahovo the south and west and Tomášikovo in the north of the Little Danube.

History

Vydrany was first mentioned in 1245 as Hodus written and originally belonged to the manor of Bratislava Castle. In the 15th century the village succeeded to the gentry, but primarily to the families Vermes and Hodossy. 1828 were counted 133 houses and 951 inhabitants, who were engaged in cattle breeding. There were seven Meier farms in the municipality.

Until 1919 belonged to the county located in the Bratislava city of the Kingdom of Hungary and was then Czechoslovakia or Slovakia today. On the basis of the First Vienna Award, it was 1938-45 again in Hungary.

1948 to " Hungarian" sounding name was changed to Vydrany.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Vydrany 1,456 inhabitants, of whom 1,203 Magyars, 220 Slovaks, Czechs eight, six Roma and each one German, Moravians and poles; a resident had a different ethnic group. 15 inhabitants did not know. 846 residents pleaded with the Roman Catholic Church, 364 inhabitants to the Reformed Church, 20 inhabitants to the Evangelical Church AB, Jehovah's three inhabitants of the witnesses, for evangelistic church and the Jewish community, two residents to the Baptists, the Greek Catholic Church and the United Methodist Church and a resident of the Orthodox Church; four residents were other denomination. 129 inhabitants were non-denominational and 77 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined

Infrastructure and Transport

The basic infrastructure is partially developed: there are public water and gas lines, but neither sewers nor connection to a sewage treatment plant are available and there is no cable television network. The municipality runs a kindergarten and a both Slovak- Hungarian language as well as primary school and in the village post office is located. Vydrany is one kilometer from the provincial road 572 and three miles from the road 1st order 63 is removed; south of the village runs the railway line Bratislava - Komárno with a stop in Veľké Blahovo and a train station in Dunajská Streda.
