Monastery Spišský Štiavnik Monastery Vistychy

Wąchock monastery is one of our Lady and the saints Florian consecrated, Cistercian abbey in Wąchock in the Holy Cross Voivodeship, between Kielce and Radom, 5 km north- west of Starachowice.

History

The Convent was founded as a daughter house of the twenty-fifth primary Abbey Mori Moon, from which also came the Convention, in 1179 by Bishop Gedeon ( Gedka ) of Kraków ( Cracow). From Wąchock were Spišský Štiavnik monastery, founded today in Slovakia, and in 1675 the monastery Vistychy in present-day Belarus. After looting by Turkish, Hungarian and Cossack troops and fires in 1637 and 1656 it was rebuilt. The monastery was dissolved in 1819. Since 1887, the plant was owned by the parish. The Cistercians came back to Wąchock 1951, 1964 was the monastery again the rank of abbey.

Buildings and plant

The convent was built around 1218 to 1239. It is a large complex of late Romanesque homelessness internals, which was probably built by an Italian workshop under the direction of Master Simon ( cf. monastery Sulejow ). The exam is to the right of the church. The square chapter house has a 9-panel - ribbed vault and is referred to as the most beautiful of the small Polish plants. In the east wall he has a rose window with new tracery, the cloister and a portal Biforienöffnungen. The lay brothers room has a vault on a pillar. The refectory is dreijochig, brackets and keystones have a plant decoration. The cloister dates from the beginning of the 16th century and was arched over in the 17th century. In the strongly altered in the 17th century west wing 1643 Rakoczy tower in the center was added.

The church is a three-aisled basilica with dreijochigem nave, transept and choir einjochigem. The nave arcades are round-arched, slightly ogival arcades into the transept. The church has a ribbed vaults on pointed arches transverse arches resting on chamfered half-columns on pilasters with foliated capitals in the nave. In Südquerschiff a gallery was built in the 17th century. The exterior facades are articulated by pilasters, is located in the eastern facade a rose three windows. In the north chapel is a round-arched frieze mounted with animal heads. In the Western Front is a Gewändeportal with half columns. The furnishings are from the Baroque and Rococo.
