Wakefield Regional Council

Wakefield is located in the Lower North region of South Australia at the north end of Saint- Vincent- Gulf about 160 km north of the city of Adelaide. The area includes 53 districts and towns: Alma, Avon, Balaklava, Barabba Hill, Barunga, Barunga Gap, Beaufort, Blyth, Boucaut, Bowillia, Bowmans, Brinkworth, Bumbunga, Burns Field, Cameron, Condowie, Condowie Plains, Corcondo, Dalkey, Erith, Everard, Everard Central, Goyder, Halbury, Hamley Bridge, Hart, Hope Gap, Hoskins Corner, Hoyleton, Inkerman, Kallora, Kybunga, Lake View, Lochiel, Lorne, Maro Creek, Marola, Mount Templeton, Mundoora, Nantawarra, Owen, Pinery, Port Wakefield, Proof Range, Rochester, Saints, Salter Springs, Snowtown, Stockyard Creek, Stow, Watchman, Whitwarta and Wokurna. The administrative headquarters of the council is located in Balaklava in the south of the LGA.

Management

The Council of Wakefield has twelve members, eleven Councillor elected by the residents of the five Wards ( two each from the Northern, Eastern, Southern and Western Ward, three from the Central Ward). These five districts are set independently of the villages. The Council President and Mayor ( Mayor ) is also elected by all residents of the LGA.
