Walter Henneberger

Walter Henneberger ( born May 19, 1883 in Ennenda; † January 15, 1969 in Zurich ) was a Swiss chess player.

1904 and 1912, he became the sole Swiss champion, 1906, 1911 and 1914, he shared the title. Mostly in his playing days, he composed some chess puzzles. In 1916, he won against Emanuel Lasker in the simultaneous exhibition in Zurich.

International Henneberger is rather little have appeared. In 1928 he took part in the amateur world championship of FIDE, finished there but with 3 out of 15 points knocked off the 16th and last place.

In the first half of the 1930s, he won once each Ossip Bernstein and Aaron Nimzowitsch. In 1934 he won one in the German chess literature now famous game against Erich Eliskases, in which he could refute a combination of his opponent.
