Weathersfield is a town in Windsor County, the State of Vermont in the United States with 2,825 inhabitants ( according to the census of 2010). It lies on the western bank of the Connecticut River in the eastern foothills of the Green Mountains. The two population centers are Ascutney ( before 1927: Ascutneyville ) and Perkinsville.

Declared on 20th August 1761 as part of the New Hampshire Grants, to the land of the Town quickly proved to be particularly suitable for agriculture. The first settlers came from Connecticut and brought from there the name of the place with. The first town meeting was convened in March 1778 and determined a mayor. A chicken pox epidemic in 1791, called for seven deaths among the settlers; another epidemic struck the city in 1813.

In the river bend Connecticut in the northern part of the Town had the later United States ambassador in Lisbon, William Jarvis, created a sheep farm. He was the first imported the defining episode in the Vermont Merino sheep from Spain and here let graze: 4,000, of which eight went on as a personal gift to Thomas Jefferson.
