The Munich-based weekly markets are held on each weekday markets for food and flowers, which take place at various places distributed throughout the Munich urban area locations.

General

Under the direction of the market halls of Munich provide 41 weeks, farmers and organic markets with more than 120 dealers from across the food sector, the population in the districts once or twice a week with fresh food.

History

In the late 1950s there was a great shortage of housing in Munich. Despite the reconstruction of the city after the Second World War, plus around 60,000 homes were urgently needed. Between 1960 and 1970, the Munich population increased by about 300,000 inhabitants. As a consequence of this large new housing area was built (including Neuperlach Fuerstenried, Hasenbergl, Blumenau and Neuaubing ) since the early 1960s. But soon the poor infrastructure have been complaints. Mainly there was a lack of kindergartens, schools, public transport and shopping.

Since the constant food markets (Elisabeth market, Pasinger Viktualienmarkt Viktualienmarkt and Viennese market ), were well received by the Munich and Munich locals, they came up with the idea to underserved parts of the city, although no permanent food markets whose conservation effort is very high, to install, but for half - or full-day markets, which should take place once or twice a week in the affected districts to set up. These markets should be charged from mobile generators or market traders, which should provide the Munich population with food and flowers as well as goods from the non-food sector; a Dultatmosphäre should be avoided. Of these markets, they hoped that " a welcome revival of the suburbs and the formation of smaller more varied and colorful life centers " as it is in the landmark decision of the City Council. Since the introduction of this new market genus broke new ground and it was not yet possible to foresee at the time, how the new facilities would prove, the city could not even make to support these markets and provide the necessary in this case, market management for the time being. It rather the solution was found that the Bavarian Association of showmen and market merchants eV initially for a probationary year should support the farmer's markets. In the course of the test year should be observed as the markets evolve, so that thereafter the city could decide the further operation to fail if necessary, to permit further markets or to operate it in its own jurisdiction. Due to the good success of the trial year, the city has opted for the latter solution, since an uncontrolled expansion of private markets, it was feared, could lead to pollution of the living quality or unsustainable competition for retail in the neighborhoods.

On May 20, 1969, the first week the market was opened in Plett Road in Neuperlach. In the following days, the markets in the Berner Street in Fuerstenried- east, in the Wellenkamp street in Hasenbergl and in the Grisons street in Fuerstenried- West followed. The markets have been very well received by the respective local population. After the sample year, the market management took over the wholesale market hall, a local company that already had many years of experience in the management of solid food markets.

On 2 February 1989, the Municipal Committee decided an innovation in the field of farmer's markets. From the spring of the same year for the first time should - be set up under the umbrella of the Munich farmer's markets farmers' markets than pure self- producer markets - initially on a trial basis. In the spirit of solidarity of the town and surrounding area, it was deemed appropriate and proper to provide farmers in the city with a marketing area for their regional products. Moreover, it is self- producers as opposed to professional market traders not because of their binding to the operation possible to go to the market daily. As support this new market genus of farmers market Munich, founded by Bavarian Farmers Association was set eV.

Management

The Munich-based weekly markets are managed by the market halls of Munich, a self- operation of the city of Munich.

The use of weekly markets depends on the regime.

The rent for a stand depends on the length of the vehicle sale / -nation. In addition there are shared costs for snow removal, electricity, etc.

The farmers' markets manage their own business. In contrast to the market participants in the weekly markets, a feeder of farmers 'markets must be self- producer and member of the Farmers' Market Association.
