Weesp–Lelystad railway

The railway line Lelystad - Weesp or Flevolijn, connects Weesp and Lelystad. She was until December 2012 the only railroad in the Dutch province of Flevoland. The distance is about 40 kilometers. The railway line is one of eight stations.

History

Flevoland consists of areas that have been reclaimed through land reclamation the IJsselmeer. The construction of the line began in 1980. The first section of the route between Weesp and Almere Buiten was opened on 29 May 1987. The traffic on the track, however, was officially launched only a day later. The section between Almere Buiten and Lelystad Centrum was opened on 28 May 1988. The stations Almere Almere Oostvaarders Parkwijk and were opened only in 1996 and 2004 respectively. Originally the intention was to build this railway line through the natural area Oostvaardersplassen. After protests by the conservation movement in 1981 decided the then Minister of Transport, the line to guide the Oostvaardersplassen ago. Train services

With the commissioning of Hanzelijn on December 9, 2012 operating on the route intercity trains from Den Haag via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to Zwolle and hourly continue to Groningen or Leeuwarden as well as from Utrecht to Almere- Oostvaarders.
