Wendy Saddington

Wendy June Saddington ( born 1949 in Melbourne, Australia, † June 22, 2013 ) was an Australian blues and jazz singer and member of the bands Chain, Copperwine and Wendy Saddington band. She also wrote for the youth magazine Go- Set.

Life and work

Saddington worked after high school, first as a typist. In 1967, she began her musical career in the band Soul Revolution, then she moved to the psychedelic rock band James Taylor Move. When in December 1968, the blues band The Beaten Tracks from Perth moved to Melbourne, she joined the group. The band changed its name to The Chain. Was inspired by the band's name Aretha Franklin's song Chain of Fools. 1969 Saddington left the band.

From 1969 to 1970 Wendy Saddington wrote a weekly column for the youth magazine Go- Set, in which she addressed issues of youth, such as pregnancy, loneliness and suicide, and gave answers. Many parents criticized her column. From March 1970 to February 1971 Saddington sang along with Jeff St. John in the band Copperwine. In January 1971, she sang on the Wallacia Festival in New South Wales. This album Wendy Saddington and Copperwine Live arose.
