Werner-von-Siemens-Ring

The Werner -von- Siemens-Ring is one of the highest German scientific and technical awards. He was from 1916 to 1941 and has been awarded since 1952 approximately every three years by the Foundation Werner -von- Siemens-Ring. The Foundation has its headquarters and its office in Berlin. It was on 13 December 1916 - founded under the name Siemens Ring Foundation - the 100th birthday of Werner von Siemens. In 1964 she was renamed Foundation Werner -von- Siemens-Ring and the Siemens - ring is called since Werner -von- Siemens-Ring. The management and staff supervision of the Foundation is perceived as traditional by the German Association of Technical and Scientific Associations ( DVT).

According to the statutes, the German Federal President patron of the Foundation Council and the President of the Physikalisch -Technische Bundesanstalt be executive chairman. The trustees are all ring bearers and representatives of many professional societies.

The gold ring will each be awarded in December of the following year. He is busy with emeralds and rubies, which are laurel leaves and fruits and is kept in an artistically designed cartridge which externally bears the portrait of Werner von Siemens and contains a dedication of the prize winner.
