Wesley Ruggles

Wesley Ruggles ( born June 11, 1889 in Los Angeles, † January 8, 1972 in Santa Monica ) was an American film director, producer and actor.

Life

Ruggles began as a supporting actor in films with Charlie Chaplin at the Essanay Studios. In the 1930s and 1940s, he was director and producer of films of different genres, but mainly of romantic comedies. Ruggles was also responsible for the Western Cimarron, for which he received an Oscar nomination for Best Director. Wesley Ruggles died in 1972 at the age of 82 and was buried in Forrest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale. He was married twice: From 1931 to 1937, the actress Arline Judge and from 1940 with Marcelle Rogez. His brother Charles Ruggles was also an actor.
