West Acton tube station

West Acton is an aboveground station London Underground in the London Borough of Ealing. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 3 on Queens Drive and is served by trains on the Central Line. In 2011, 1.62 million passengers used the station.

The Great Western Railway ( GWR ) built a short branch line to Ealing and used them from April 1917 to freight. Three years later, agreed the Central London Railway (CLR; predecessor company of Central Line) with GWR sharing the road. On August 3, 1920, the CLR took the metro operation between Woodline and Ealing Broadway, the trains ran at this point, however, still without stopping by. The opening of the station was finally built later on 5 November 1923.

The current station building was built in 1940 to plans by the Australian GWR chief architect Brian Lewis and replaced an older in the year 1923. It is a box-shaped paneled main hall of reinforced concrete, which is clad in red brick and has a high window. The striking building is located on a concrete bridge over the railroad tracks, two staircases lead down to the platforms. Since 2011, the station is a listed building (Grade II).
