Blast - Where the Buffalo Roam is a published in 1980 American comedy based on a series of semi - biographical stories of the author Hunter S. Thompson. The film depicts Thompson's rise in the 1970s and his relationship with Chicano attorney and activist Oscar Zeta Acosta. Art Linson directed, Bill Murray represents the author and Peter Boyle provides Acosta represents the will, Esq referred to in the film as Carl Lazlo.
