Will Downing

Will Downing ( born November 29, 1965 Bed -Stuy, Brooklyn, New York, Wilfred Downing ) is an American soul and house singer but also a songwriter.

Biography

The late 1970s to the mid-1980s was a background singer Will Downing, among others with Billy Ocean, Nona Hendryx, Rose Royce, Daryl Payne, Marc Sadane, Warp 9 and Jennifer Holliday. Mid-1980s, he was discovered by Arthur Baker soul singer and hired him for his band " Wally Jump Jnr. and the Criminal Element ".

1988 Downing received a solo contract with Iceland Records and recorded his debut album, Will Downing, which was produced by Arthur Baker. The breakthrough came with the single A Love Supreme, a sung version of the classic jazz of John Coltrane. In 1989 a remake of Where Is the Love?, A duet with British soul singer Mica Paris, which he self-produced. The second album Come Together as One was released in the same year.

On the third album A Dream Fulfilled in 1991 jazz influences to hear and there was a cover version of The World Is a Ghetto, a top hit of the funk band War of 1972. Using other album releases ( Pleasures of the Night, All the Man You Need, Sensual Journey, Emotions, Christmas, Love and You and Soul Symphony ) had Will Downing until 2005 mainly in the UK success.

2006 was at Downing polymyositis, a disease that weakens muscles and joints, diagnosed. Therefore, he had to sing on his 2007 album in a wheelchair After Tonight. Supported by his fans, he continued to fight against the disease and created in 2009 the soulful album Classique. A year later, in September 2010, followed by Lust, Love & Lies (An Audio Novel), the fifteenth and final studio album for the time being.

Downing is married to the US- American singer Audrey Wheeler.
